A simple VOIP connection quality connector

It may just be me… in which case I’ll shut up!!
It’s very frustrating when I have a problem with VOIP, and I wonder if it is the ISP of the VOIP provider. If I am doing other things I’ll think “hmm…that site seems slow”.
How about some software that runs all day, that is testing the connection, and keeping an eye on the latency and packet loss. There are plenty of “quickie” tests on the web, but I would like to have a more prolonged test, that is more suitable for VOIP.
Maybe there is something already out there, but I was wondering if I must get some software written, that might do a ping every 6 seconds, and then report the stats on the result.
Would anyone else find that interesting?
